Meeting Minutes

Hello,

We had a wonderful meeting with a very nice turnout with a total of 22 members attend!. The food and company was great! Vice President of MAFA, Gail Aumiller brought a beautiful cake with our logo on it!  It was fun to celebrate her Birthday along with the meeting!  Here are some of the things we discussed for those of you who could not make the meeting and to recap all the information for those who did:

As you already know we are having our 1st Show, Saturday- May 22, 2010.  We do need volunteer's for this event.  We will email out the exact duties but some of them are: Announcer, Gate People in & out, Person in the ring w/judge, etc.  Please email Jill if interested: jill.jak@gmail.com
We need to start getting the word out about our show so please spread the word--you can print off our Show Flyer from our website--and post it in your local tack shop, feed store, etc.  We do have Class Sponsorship available for our show- it is only $25 per class and you will be announced at the show that you sponsored the class, put in our show program, and a link will be added to our website on the show page!

Stalls are $30 a piece and you must bring your own shavings, water buckets, etc.  You may stay overnight but must leave early the next morning. Once finished there will be a document posted with all this type of information

We have purchased some very nice rosette ribbons for our show through 6th place.  They will have our MAFA logo in the middle of them. There will be beautiful Championship neck ribbons for the Championship classes, as well as trophy plaques.

Vendors will be able to set up at the show, however Frying Pan Park does take a total of 15% of total revenue of goods purchased at the show, but not orders that are placed.
Please let us know if you are interested in advertising in our show program with your sale horses.
For the first time FHANA and MAFA will have a booth on display in the Breed Pavilion at both the MD Horse Expo January 21-24 and PA Horse Expo February 25-28.  We are very excited for these events and hope to promote our wonderful breed and attract more members to FHANA and MAFA.  At the MD Expo we will be located at B6 in the Breed Pavilion. We do need volunteers for the booth at these expos so if interested please contact Jessica Mendoza at: shoe493@hotmaill.com  For directions and more info check out: http://www.horseworldexpo.com/ Since we hope this will become an annual event for MAFA, please let us know anytime you would like to be an exhibitor.

We are excited to announce that our own MAFA member and Director at Large, Lisa Schuler, will be re-doing our website.  We want to make our website very user friendly and up to date!  We will be adding photo galleries so please send us your new pictures!! Just make sure you have permission to use them and that you do not mind us using them on our website, or in promotional things.  Please send them to Jessica Mendoza at: shoe493@hotmail.com
We also discussed Jane Richard's great idea about starting a newsletter. We think sending newsletters via email and posting them to the website it is the best way to go for now.  We would like to feature members in this newsletter and learn more about you so please share your stories and send them to Lisa Schuler at: believersrwe@embarqmail.com
MAFA is able to send in news for the club section of The Friesian.  Ideally we want to submit news about our club as a whole, and secondly individual member news.  When MAFA first started submitting news it was written by Wendy Klazenga. then proofed by Gloria B. before being sent in.  So, please send your news to Jane Richards at: friesians1st@aol.com  which will be edited by Jane then proofed/approved by Gail Aumiller, who will send it to Laurie Kasperek. at The Friesian for publishing.

Dues for 2010 will stay at the normal rates: $35-individual, $45-family, $50-business   Please apply online if you have not already.

FHANA is having a Chapter of the Year contest.  Where all the Friesian Clubs will compete to earn  points. At the end of the year we will tally up the points to see if we have won the contest.   The prize for this is to get $500 put towards your club to bring in a clinician.   These points can be attained doint things that promote the Friesian breed: showing, demos, publications, videos, volunteering, etc.  More info to come by email. And please ANY shows, demos, volunteering that you do, email Jessica Mendoza at shoe493@hotmail.com with your information so we can keep track of our points!

We are also able to apply for clinician money through FHANA for our club--it's a first come first served allotment.  If you have a certain clinician or topic you would like to learn about please let us know so we can start planning!

And last but not least--We would like to have another meeting before our show sometime in April.  We would also like to have a tack swap at the same time. Dig up all those unused horse items so you can take a load off!  Remember someones trash maybe anothers treasure!

Thank you and please any questions, comments or suggestions about our club just ask!!
